What Promotional Item Is Best For You?

2013-03-18

Looking for that next great marketing idea?  We'd like to help you.  Here are a few questions we like to ask our customers to find the right promotional items for their business, event or organization.

Who will be getting these promotional items?  Giving some thought to what a customer might use or need is a good idea if you hoping that they are to hang on to the item.  We all know what happens to a pen we don’t like or something we don’t need, it quickly ends up in the garbage.

What promotional items have you gotten that you have kept?  Typically when I ask that question customers are also excited to tell me who they got that pizza cutter from they have used it for years and see XYZ’s company name on it every time they have pizza.

Does my promotional item have to correlate with my business?

Absolutely not!  It is ok to do something different, it is all about becoming top of mind for your customer and that next time they need a service or product you offer you are the first one they think of and they run and grab that letter opener to get your phone number.

What do you want your promotional item to say about you?   This is my favorite question to ask.  If you own upscale shop, you want your item to reflect that.  I had a business come in that I also do business with and they were trying to decide to go with a higher quality item or the item with the best price point.  As soon I as asked them this question and reminded them that the reason customers choose to do business with them is because they have a good reputation, certainly not because they are the cheapest.

How much do you have budgeted?   Your options are endless when it comes to what you can purchase with your custom message on it.   You can get M&M’s to designer sunglasses.  There are always the items such as pens, pencils, cups, note pads and magnets that most customers can always use and if are a new business it can be a great place to start.  Our customers are often excited that they can get 300 (impressions) items for under $125.

One of my favorite things to do is to get creative with customers and think outside the box, I think that is where you get the best return on your investment.  Still not sure what to do for your next promotional item, give us call or send us an email.
